NAC-AEP 2011 (Trigger Creations by Composite Art & Design)
Images of Food
This course taps on ‘Food’ as the main theme for Art-making. After all, Singapore is a Food Paradise with a wide variety of food from different cultures and that is a great inspiration for ideas in Art making.
Students will be exposed to Art based on subjects of ‘Food’ such as those done by Wayne Thiebaud, Sanchez Cotan, Claes Oldenburg etc. They will study chosen type of food before conceptualizing their work using various Principles of Design. Work could be realised in 2D/3D with chosen media such as Acrylic paint, Collage, Mixed Media, etc. with certain Art style adopted.
Faces in Cubism
In this course, students will be introduced to Portraiture in Cubism. They will be exposed to some Cubist Artists’ work such as those by Pablo Picasso & George Braque.
Upon practice on sketching and drawing of human faces, students will then manipulate and distort portraits done in cubist forms. Finalwork will be assembled in Collage and Mixed Media with understanding of Shape, Texture and Pattern.
Cultural Masks
In this course, students will learn techniques of Mask-making with understanding of Form, Texture and Depth in creating Artwork based on theme of Culture & Ethnicity (national education/NE).
Final masks could be realized using techniques of Paper Sculpture, Paper Mache and/or Mixed Media.
Figurines in Paper Mache
Students will learn techniques and skills of Paper Mache in forming 3D figurines. All figurines will be made from scratch using recycled materials. They will be guided throughout the whole Paper Mache making process.
Final-work will be hand-painted using Acrylic/industrial paints. Possible themes to work on could be Animals, Imaginative Creatures, Human Forms and even Non-living Things.
Plasticine Relief Art
Students will learn to use plasticine in creating relief picture. They will be introduced to Principles of Design in creating interesting compositions for their work with possible themes such as Patterns, Nature, Animals, Sea World etc.
Elements of Art such as Form and Texture will be emphasized in these lesson to effectively relief the pictures. Final-work could be grouped to form a ‘panel of tiles’.
*Above courses are eligible for 60% Tote Board Art Grant.

Mural Presentation (of Masks)

Masks created by pupils were selected and gathered as a mural installation. They were framed and put up as a mural complementing with decorative motifs.

Mixed Media Work (P5)
Concord Primary School
Pupils from Young Artist Club were led to develop work on theme of 'Urban Cityscape' using Mixed Media.
They worked in small groups to come up with ideas such as 'a colourful city with dancing buildings', 'redevelopment of city due to pollution' and 'city with fast communications'.
